The Story of
Shiraz Greenbaum
Photographed with: Moran Atias, actress and international activist
When you realize you did not grow up alone in the shadows, light begins to enter
The daughter of a father who was injured in the Yom Kippur War and recognized as living with PTSD from his military service, Shiraz grew up in a home where trauma was part of everyday life. For years, however, it and its effect on the family went unspoken.
The moment she realized she was part of the second generation affected by combat trauma became a turning point. Drawing on her own experience, she founded the project Light Up the Home, therapeutic support groups for daughters and sons of people affected by military trauma, and became a founding member of the Second Generation of Combat Trauma Forum.
