The Story of
Nadav Weirsh
Photographed with: Amir Ivgi, journalist and media personality
The battle ended, but his struggle had only just begun
Nadav lives with PTSD following the events of Operation Protective Edge. During the fighting in Rafah, around the incident in which Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was abducted and killed and other soldiers fell, Nadav was in a tank hundreds of meters from the fighting, listening to events unfold over the radio.
The sounds and images of that day continue to follow him in nightmares, flashbacks and anxiety. Alongside his psychological struggles, Nadav also spent years fighting for recognition of his injury and the assistance and rehabilitation he needed.
Today, after a prolonged struggle, he is recognized by the Rehabilitation Department and advocates for the rights of people affected by combat trauma, so that those living with invisible injuries will not also have to fight for the right to receive help.
