The Story of

Ziv Shilon

Photographed with: Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel and Likud Chairman

One day before completing his role as company commander, he went to protect his soldiers, and his life changed forever.

A Givati Brigade officer, Ziv was critically wounded during an operation in Gaza. While opening a gate for his soldiers, he ordered them to stay back and went forward alone. An explosive device detonated, severely wounding him and causing the loss of both hands.

Despite his injuries, Ziv continued assisting in the evacuation of his soldiers. His next battle was recovery. Over nearly two years, he underwent more than 17 surgeries and intensive rehabilitation, rebuilding his life and adapting to a new reality.

Today, Ziv is an entrepreneur and speaker who uses his story to empower wounded IDF veterans and people coping with PTSD.
