The Story of

Yefim Baron

Photographed with: Yinon Elisha Magal, Israeli journalist, television and radio presenter

Even when life confronts him with its hardest challenges, he chooses to keep seeing the good

Yefim, 22, was wounded while fighting in Shuja’iyya in December 2023. After about six months of rehabilitation, he chose to return to his team and took part in two further rounds of fighting in Lebanon.

Throughout his service, he also cared for his father, who had a heart condition. After his discharge, he travelled in Asia, but while in Nepal received news that his father’s condition had deteriorated. He returned to Israel and said goodbye to his father shortly afterwards.

Today, Yefim runs a gardening and landscaping business and is beginning to share his story. Through injury, loss and the journey he has taken, he holds on to a guiding belief: good and bad are always around us, and we have the privilege of choosing what to focus on.
