The Story of

Stav Gilad

Photographed with: Carmel Shama-Hacohen, Mayor of Ramat Gan

Between the dream of starting a family and a mission on the battlefield

A captain in the reserves, a rescue officer and a team commander in the heavy rescue platoon. When the war began, she chose to continue serving on the front line alongside her team, even while undergoing fertility treatments.

For Stav, this choice came from a deep sense of responsibility for the people under her command, and the belief that a commander stays beside her team precisely when things are hardest.

Her story brings together two deeply personal fronts: the wish to start a family and the commitment to keep serving and leading during wartime.
