Roi Gerlik

Photographed with: Asi Israelof, comedian, actor and musician, a member of the Ma Kashur comedy trio

Five bullets changed his life, but not his determination to keep moving forward

A soldier in the Nahal Brigade’s 931st Battalion, Roi was severely wounded in the Second Lebanon War during close combat with Hezbollah fighters. Five bullets and numerous fragments struck his body, leaving him with severe, complex injuries affecting multiple systems.

His initial rehabilitation lasted about four years, but the struggle did not end there. He has undergone 33 surgeries to date and continues receiving medical treatment while also coping with PTSD.

Despite his injuries and ongoing medical journey, Roi rebuilt his life, studied law and accounting, and today works as a lawyer and accountant specializing in taxation. Behind the life he has built, he continues to face a daily struggle that is not always visible from the outside.
