Amichai was a sniper in an elite IDF unit from 1998 to 2001, and participated in dozens of shooting events during his years of service. In his own words: "I was a sniper during battles in the Second Intifada. I went through a lot of field operations but I did not get the right mental care. I was treated only years later. Today I receive treatment from the IDF veterans’ office."
