בתקופה מורכבת – במהלך שירותה הצבאי שירתה קרן באוגדת עזה בשנים 2003 – 2005,
שכללה גם את תוכנית ההתנתקות.
קרן שירתה כחובשת קרבית והייתה חלק מצוות אמבולנס טיפול נמרץ, שעמד בכוננות 24/7
לכל תרחיש ברחבי רצועת עזה – מצפון ועד דרום. זה היה כלי הפינוי המהיר הראשון בצה"ל,
