The Story of
Or Eylon & Lior Nir
Photographed with Infected Mushroom
Or Served from 2014-2017 as a combat medic in the Shimshon Battalion.
“After my service I felt abandoned, I didn't know anything about PTSD and I was not ready for what I was about to face alone.
I think that any person who goes through our kind of service need to get some sort off treatment, and not just throw us into a void.
I am doing my best to recover with the help of private foundations and it seems unjust in a progressive society. I travel and tell my story, and bring the message that this kind of injury can effect anyone, and we should deal with it together. Nobody should go through this complex experience without proper help. With community and support, we can alleviate the problem.”
"Lior was a combat medic and served in the Nahal Brigade between 2000-2003
I saw more bodies during those three years than over the many years since then.
I was injured several times during my military service, 18 years ago and 4 years later when called up for reserve duty during the Second Lebanon War. There I was seriously injured in my head, body, mind, and soul.
Since then I have been undergoing physiological, mental, and cardiac rehabilitation treatment.
I got married and had a son, got divorced and found great love, and had a daughter.
I will never give up on this life.
I will not let my past destroy my future.
It's a daily battle and most days I win."
