Itzik served as a soldier in the Golani Brigade, fought in Operation Protective Edge and Tzuk Eitan (Gaza) and participated in the fierce battle in Shuja'iyya in which seven soldiers were killed. He was recognized as suffering from post-trauma but was awarded only 25 percent disability. In the years since then, he struggled to increase the percentage of his disability, but his applications were rejected. He was first photographed for this exhibition in June 2020 as part of the struggle to raise awareness of post-traumamatic injuries.

In April 2021, he set himself alight in front of the Ministry of Defense's Rehabilitation Division and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the National Burn Treatment Unit of Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.
